Meet Dr. Gallardo

Diego Gallardo, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He completed his undergraduate studies in Interdisciplinary Sciences and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico. He then attended the UPR, School of Dental Medicine, graduating with honors. After dental school, Dr. Gallardo completed a general practice residency at the prestigious New York Presbyterian- Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where he was awarded the Resident of the Year Award and later completing a one year oral and maxillofacial internship at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. 

He pursued an additional four years of specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Howard University Hospital, including surgical experiences at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Children’s National Medical Center, Anne Arundel Medical Center and Winchester Medical Center in Virginia, becoming very proficient in dental extractions, implants, sedation techniques, advanced bone grafting techniques, management of TMJ disorders and corrective jaw surgery. As Chief Resident, his training included facial plastic surgery rotation at Georgetown University Hospital with world renowned Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Posnick.

Dr. Gallardo currently holds certifications on Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

Fluent in English and Spanish, breaking language barriers while providing a comfortable environment is of most importance to Dr. Gallardo. When he’s not at work, he loves spending time with his wife, little girl and new baby boy.
